The Spenco Yumi is really a total support sandal that combines support and stability with comfort and simplicity of a slip-on sandal. They've an orthotic-quality arch and heel support with superior impact cushioning and motion control to help reduce pronation and supination.
The Vionic by Orthaheel Cascade is really a women's performance toe post sandal with a durable VIBRAM outsole for excellent traction on different surfaces. The motion control foot bed is biomechanically contoured and made from triple-density EVA for stability within the rear foot and cushioning within the heel and forefoot. The flexible leather uppers have a soft padded jersey liner having a bungee strap overlay and soft nylon webbing toe post.
I've taken both the Yumi and Cascade slip-ons with me on several different outdoor trips. As a person with flat feet, the arch around the footwear did take a little getting used to. But after the initial 'breaking-in' period of adjusting towards the arch, the Yumi and Cascade did provide nice support for my feet.
The Spenco Yumi felt pretty cushy and inviting after i slipped them on between climbs. Going from being cramped in climbing shoes to complete open-toed slip-ons is always a nice breather for my feet. I kept them on while belaying some fellow climbers as well as walking from climb-to-climb when the approach wasn't too far away to spare from having to put hiking shoes on. The traction on the Yumi seemed to fair pretty well on shorter approaches to different climbs.
The Vionic by Orthaheel Cascade is really a little more firm than the Spenco Yumi. I truly liked the VIBRAM outsole and also the design of the Cascade. The bungee strap overlay adds some style to the footwear. The Cascade was another one of those comfortable after-climbing shoes that my feet were happy with. The traction around the Cascade was rugged enough that I could approach different climbs without needing to change into hiking shoes even when it required just a little scrambling.
Both the Yumi and Cascade proved to become fantastic after-sport recovery footwear. The Cascade includes a little more ruggedness than the Yumi, but both were equally comfortable for me. I'd highly recommend the Yumi and Cascade to anyone searching for a good after-recovery shoe. I really liked the convenience from the slip-on instead of having to tie a shoe or attempting to shove your foot into an already-tied shoe. It might seem lazy or insignificant, but after a long day of venturing outdoors, the ease of slipping on some flip-flops just somehow seems to help put you into relax and recovery mode.
