Originally released in 1988, the Air Jordan III revolutionized the signature line the great Michael Jordan rocked for 15 years. The shoe was the creation of Tinker Hatfield, the Nike shoe designer that would eventually make the Jordan line probably the most successful line of basktball shoes ever made. At the time Hatfield was brought in to create this shoe, one Michael Jordan was seriously considering jumping ship with Nike and signing with Adidas. Hatfield quickly put an end to that possiblity. The Jordan 3 came complete with a high-performance leather upper, an anatomically correct Durapontex sockliner, and obviously the icnonic elephant print. This shoe would make history. Michael took one take a look at this shoe which history was made.
The year of 2011 has seen more than it's fair share of Jordan Retro 3 releases. The most recent version of the shoe has dropped inside a Stealth/Varsity Red/Light Graphite/Black colorway. The shoe uses both Stealth Grey and Graphite on the leather upper. Black takes care of the midsole, tongue, and back heel panel. Varsity Red is featured as accents around the Jumpman logo on the tongue and heel tab as well as the lace eyelets. A solid White rubber outsole finishes off another edition from the greatest Jordan ever made.
Along with this colorway there are several more which are still slated for release. Yes, the greatest Jordan of all time is going to be dropped in additional epic colorways. Next up is the "Black Flip" followed by perhaps the most epic colorway this shoe has ever dropped in. The Black/Cement colorway will release this coming December and it is sure to sell out inside a matter of hours. That's what happened when the "True Blue" colorway dropped last June. The Jordan Retro III is just that popular.
So don't sleep on this latest edition from the Jordan 3 that has been dubbed "Stealth". It's very rare that the Jordan Retro 3 is available after the very first week of it's release. This one is. And anytime you've got a chance to cop a pair from the greatest pair of Jordan shoes for basketball, it's an opportunity you have to make the most of.
